How we work
Handing over your takeoffs is a trust call
So here's exactly how the Estimates service runs. How you get started, what happens on every job, who checks what, and what happens when something's wrong.
Getting started
Three steps, and you're sending plans.
-
Sign the engagement letter
It's short and written in plain English. It covers what we do, what it costs, how we fix errors and who's responsible for what. We walk you through it before you sign anything.
-
Send us your SKU list
Plus an example of the CSV your ERP imports. We map your product codes once, so every schedule comes back in your codes and imports cleanly into your system.
-
Send your first plan set
Your first standard plan set after signing is free, one per branch. Standard means a single-storey plan set, or a multi-unit set of up to three blocks. Judge us on a real job.
What happens on every job
-
You send the plans
Complete, current, legible plans, as you need them, to estimates@tqsservices.nz.
-
Our engine measures
It does the takeoff and marks every measurement up on the drawing, running on TakeoffQS.
-
A person checks it
An experienced QS or estimator checks every measurement and signs the schedule off. Nothing goes out before that.
-
You get the schedule
Measured quantities against your own product codes, in the exact format that feeds into your ERP or construction pricing platform. You also get a PDF, with a numbered list of what we assumed, what we left out and anything we couldn't resolve.
Turnaround
Five working days.
From a complete plan set and a confirmed job. If a job's running late, we'll tell you. It's a target we expect to hit, not a guaranteed date.
Who does what
We do the measuring and the checking. Your team still owns the quote. That split is what makes the service safe to use.
Our job
- Measure the material quantities from your plans, against your product codes
- Check every schedule before it leaves us
- List every assumption and exclusion, so your team can follow our working
- Flag anything obvious in the plans that looks wrong
- Fix our errors free, whenever you find them
Your job
- Send complete, current plans
- Check each schedule before you quote or order: assumptions, product codes, waste and pack rounding
- Set the order quantities. Pricing, margins and purchasing are yours
- Send builders your quote, not our schedule as it stands
When something's wrong
If we measured, calculated or mapped a product code wrong, tell us and we fix it free, whenever you find it.
What the service doesn't cover
-
Design checks
We don't check your plans for design errors, though we'll flag anything obvious.
-
What gets built
We can't promise quantities will match what gets built if the design, the site, substitutions or the builder's choices change.
-
Site and engineering work
Site measurement, structural design and code compliance are not part of the service.
Pricing
- Single storey
- $225+ GST
- Per residential plan set.
- Multi-unit, to 3 blocks
- $650+ GST
- Per plan set, up to three blocks.
- Anything else
- Quoted
- Jobs outside these two types are quoted before we begin.
Your data
Your plans, product list and pricing stay confidential. We use the plans and corrections you send to run and improve the service, including training our measurement models. Nothing that identifies you, your pricing or your customers goes to any other customer.
The full detail on how we store and secure your data is in our trust centre.
Questions
Anything about how the service works, timing or fees, email estimates@tqsservices.nz and it comes straight to our team.
